Healthy Anchovy & Caramelised Onion Sourdough Bread
This is one of the tastiest sourdough breads you can taste! It is so flavourful that you can enjoy it by itself or with just a little olive oil. Here’s a quick, guilt-free snack.
Ingredients (Serves 2)
4 slices Maypole Sourdough Bread (Caramelised Onion & Olives)
1 ripe Avocado
2 fresh Ġbejniet (drained)
1 tbsp Olive Oil
1 tsp Lemon Juice
1-2 tsp Sriracha (adjust to taste)
Chili Flakes (optional)
Salt & Black pepper (to taste)
Optional Toppings: cherry tomatoes, fresh basil.
Method:
Cut the sourdough bread into thick slices and drizzle them with olive oil. Toast in a pan until golden and crispy on both sides.
Mash the avocado with lemon juice, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.
Spread the mashed avocado onto the toasted sourdough.
Crumble fresh ġbejniet with little olive oil and spread them on top.
Finish with a drizzle of sriracha and little chili flakes for heat.
Add cherry tomatoes and basil if desired.
