Low-Fat Brown Ftira Burger

Quick guilt-free burger, made with juicy lean beef, gooey cheddar, mushrooms and crunchy brown ftira bread. 


Ingredients: (serves 2)

  • 1 Maypole Brown Ftira Bread

  • 400g Low-fat lean beef (minced)

  • 3 slices Low-Fat Cheddar Cheese

  • 2 Small Mushrooms (thinly sliced)

  • 1/2 Small Shallot (finely chopped)

  • 2tsp Low-Fat BBQ Sauce

  • 1tsp Low-Fat Ketchup (optional)

  • 1tsp Olive Oil

  • Salt & Pepper to Taste


Method:

  1. In a bowl, combine well the beef with the shallot, and season with salt & pepper.

  2. Mix well using your hands.

  3. Cut the ftira and lightly spread the BBQ sauce onto each half.

  4. Divide the beef between the two halves, spreading them evenly.

  5. Brush the beef with little olive oil.

  6. Place them under a hot grill for about 5 minutes, until they get nice and crispy.

  7. Place the mushrooms on one piece, and the cheddar on the other half.

  8. Return to the grill for another couple of minutes until the mushroom is cooked and the cheddar is nice and gooey.

  9. Add some ketchup, cut in half and serve.
