Crispy Twistees Ġbejna

Can’t get any cheesier! Gozo ġbejna with a crispy galletti and Twistees crust.

Ingredients (makes 4)

  • 1pkt Twistees

  • 100g Galletti

  • 2tbsp Cornflour

  • 2tbsp Plain Flour

  • 1/2tsp Garlic Powder

  • 1 Egg

  • Some water

  • 4 Ħanini Ġibniet Nixfin t’Għawdex

  • 1ltr Olitalia Pomace Olive Oil (or vegetable oil)

  • Salt & Pepper

Directions:

  1. Crush the Twistees and galletti using a food processor or crush them directly in the packet using a rolling pin.

  2. Mix them together in a bowl and set aside.

  3. For the batter, place the cornflour and flour in a small bowl.

  4. Add the seasonings, egg, and enough water to make a batter. It needs to resemble pancake batter, but not too thick.

  5. Place a skewer in each cheeselet and dip them in the batter and then coat them with an even layer of the galletti and Twistees.

  6. Bring the oil to a heat (around 160°c) and fry them for 30-60 seconds until golden brown.

  7. Dry them on a kitchen towel and serve warm.
