Crispy Maltese Sausage

Deep-fried Maltese sausage in beer batter and served with spicy tomato flavoured couscous.


Ingredients:

  • 4 Pieces Maltese Sausage

  • 300g ’00’ or All-Purpose Flour

  • 2tsp Relish Smokehouse Premium Rub

  • 1tsp Baking Powder

  • 1 can of Cold Beer

  • 1pkt Kuskus Spicy Tomato Couscous

  • Salt & Pepper

  • Oil for Deep Frying

Directions:

  1. Place the flour into a bowl and season with the Premium Rub.

  2. Mix well and coat the sausage with this mixture.

  3. Set aside the sausage and add the baking powder, salt & pepper to the flour.

  4. Open the cold beer (of your choice) and start adding it to the bowl gradually.

  5. Mix well until you get to a consistency of pancake batter.

  6. Heat up the oil on low-medium heat. 

  7. Dip each sausage in the mixture, remove the extra batter, and carefully place them into the oil.

  8. Use a skewer to make this process easier.

  9. Fry 2 at a time until nice and golden.

  10. Dry on kitchen paper to remove the access oil.

  11. Prepare the couscous as instructed on the packet and serve.
