Upside-Down Fig Salami Tarts

Upside-down pastry tarts are so easy to make, delicious, and great for parties and entertaining. Try out these fig salami ones, they are even vegetarian-friendly. Sykofagos Fig Salami & Carrefour are available exclusively at Welbee's.


Ingredients: (makes 8 pieces)

  • 1 Sykofagos Salami (I'm using the paprika one)

  • 1 Carrefour Pasta Sfoglia

  • 1 Ġbejna Moxxa (or mozzarella)

  • 1 Small Onion

  • Sun-dried Tomato

  • Fresh Thyme

  • Olive Oil

  • Balsamic Vinegar

  • 1 Fresh Egg

  • Sesame Seeds (optional)


Method:

  1. Place a sheet of baking paper onto a baking tray)

  2. Preheat the oven to 200°c.

  3. Spray some olive oil, followed by some balsamic

  4. Thinly slice the onion and salami.

  5. Cut the sun-dried tomato into small pieces.

  6. Grate the ġbejna.

  7. Place a couple of sliced onion onto the balsamic vinegar, followed by the salami, tomato, thyme and grated ġbejna.

  8. Cut the pasta sfoglia with a cookie cutter.

  9. Cover all the ingredients with the dough and gently press the edges with a fork.

  10. Brush the dough with some egg wash and pierce it with a fork to let steam escape while baking. 

  11. Drizzle some sesame seeds and bake for about 15 minutes until nice and crispy.

  12. Gently flip over onto a chopping board, remove the baking paper and serve immediately.
