Homemade Doner Tacos

Easy homemade doner-style spicy beef, served in a taco shell with veggies & Mexican salsa.

Ingredients:

  • 500g Lean Minced Beef

  • San Pedro Foods Taco Shells

  • Poco Loco Mexican Taco Spice

  • Cabbage (shredded)

  • 1 Red Pepper (finely cubed)

  • 1 Avocado (peeled & cubed)

  • 1 Onion (finely sliced)

  • Cheddar (mature, shredded)

  • La Fiesta Salsa Dip (to serve)

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°c.

  2. In a large bowl, mix well the beef with the taco spice until it resembles a paste.

  3. Place the beef on top of parchment paper and place another piece of paper on top.

  4. Using a rolling pin, flatten out the beef to about 1/2cm thickness.

  5. Remove the top paper carefully. Do not tear the beef.

  6. Roll the paper and the beef tightly into a cylinder.

  7. Place the beef on a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes.

  8. Let the beef rest for about 10 minutes, then tear it up into small pieces.

  9. If you like it crispier, place it for another 5 minutes in the hot oven.

  10. Serve in tacos with your favourite salad, cheddar cheese and plenty of salsa.

  11. Alternatively, you can serve it in pita bread as a traditional Turkish doner.
