Chocolate Orange Mini Mince Pies

Everyone loves mince pies during Christmas. This is Ch-EAT's chocolatey variation. The orange makes all the difference!

Ingredients

Dough

  • 100g Plain Flour

  • 30g Cocoa Powder

  • 75g Butter or 'I Can's Believe'

  • 25g Sugar

  • 1 Egg Yolk

  • 30ml Milk

    Filling

  • 350g Mincemeat

  • 150g Novibloc Dark Chocolate (chopped)

  • 2tbsp Orange Juice

  • 1 Orange Zest

  • 1/4tsp Ground Cinnamon

  • 1/4tsp Mixed Spice

Directions:

  • 1. Start with the dough. Mix the flour, cocoa powder, sugar and butter together until you get a crumbly texture. Then add the yolk and milk and work them into a dough. Slightly adjust with milk/flour if it's too dry or soft.

  • 2. Wrap it in plastic and refrigerate it for an hour.

  • 3. For the filling just combine all the ingredients together.

  • 4. Flour your kitchen top and open the dough. Cut into shapes and fill your mince pie/muffin tins.

  • 5. Fill them with the mixture and cover them with little dough stars.

  • 6. Bake in a preheated 200°c oven for about 20 minutes.

  • 7. You should obtain around 20 mini mince pies. Depending on the desired thickness.

  • 8. Serve them with some freshly grated orange zest and warm mulled wine.
