Qagħqa tal-Appostli (Apostle’s Ring)

Ingredients:
500g Plain Flour
12g Dry Yeast
1tsp Sugar
1tsp Salt
2tbsp Olive Oil
280ml Water
1 Egg
Raw Almonds
Sesame Seeds
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, add the water and oil. Then continue with the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
Work it into a dough.
Cover the bowl with cling film, and let it rise for an hour in a warm place like an oven (turned off)
When it doubles in size, place it on a floured surface and shape it into a large ring.
Cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise again for 30 minutes.
if it doesn’t puff up enough, leave it for some more.
Transfer it to a baking tin.
Make an egg wash (2tbsp water with an egg) and brush the dough ring.
Decorate it with the almonds and sprinkle the sesame seeds.
Bake in a preheated 180°c oven and bake for 30-40 minutes or until it gets nicely brown.
Allow it to cool off completely before serving.
