One of the highlights of spending the Carnival weekend in Gozo is undoubtedly the Gozitan Ftira, but this is no ordinary year.

With Covid-19 around this year most of the Gozo Carnival spontaneous celebrations are cancelled. Although some people will still be crossing the channel, those staying in Malta shouldn’t miss out on enjoying a delicious freshly baked crunchy Gozitan ftira. Whether it’s tomato and anchovy, or with fresh ġbejniet tan-nagħaġ and potato, we’re showing you how to make them in the comfort of your own kitchen.

This is a classic style Gozitan anchovy ftira as proposed by Ch-EAT. Although some toppings may vary, these are the most commonly used. This recipe is for 2 ftajjar, and topping measurements are according to your taste.
